The Dodder Sea Scout Den
Dodder Sea Scouts approached us in early 2009, with a proposed plan for a new scout den on their site along the river Dodder in Dublin city.
This project of a new scout den had many requirements and also many restrictions, namely the site location and its access. We viewed the location on a number of occasions and had indepth meeting’s with Dodder Sea Scouts and the Board of Works to devise a plan that would suit all parties. The access for the installation was a new problem for Shanette Sheds but this was soon over come by the use of an access road, that was layed on the river bed. During low tide this road could be accessed, providing us with a safe time window to go about our work. We liaised closely with Dodder Sea Scouts to perfect a schedule to suit the tides and all Health and Safety requirements.
Shanette delivered and installed two purpose build units on time and on budget. The storage building and the main Scout den are connected with a linking corridor and both units are built using Kingspan insulated composite panels with the exterior walls covered with a facade of Granite Stone cladding. The interior of the main building was fitted out with a kitchen, offices and bathroom facilities.
Scout Den Unit details:
Shed Size: 40′ x 24′ & 50’ x 24’ with 8’ side wall height
Installation: August 2009.
Special Features: 40mm Kingspan insulation with Stone Finish.

What the customer said:
“Price was very important for us and the Shanette lads came in with the best quote. But price wasn’t the only issue for us. Our site only had pedestrian access so they had to be able to build offsite, crane the panels in to place and assemble in a tight site. They were so professional and it only took a few hours. We’re delighted with it”
